Ore Academy Family Summer Camp - A Unique Opportunity



We are excited to share with you what is going into Ore Academy Family Summer Camp to make this experience extraordinary for the children and families involved.

Tuition for Ore Academy Family Summer Camp includes:



Lodging – Ore Academy will be held at Rockcliffe Farm Retreat and Lodge. There will be a lodge as well as tents provided. Families are welcome to bring camp trailers. The lodge will be used for daily activities. Limited rooms are available for those with health requirements making it necessary to sleep indoors.


Transportation – Transportation from Lynchburg airport will be provided Sunday afternoon and Monday Morning for those flying in for camp. Transportation back to the airport will be available Saturday morning.


Early Registration – For those desiring an early check in, early registration will be available beginning Sunday afternoon.

Camp Staff – Ore Academy camp staff includes a carefully selected devoted team. Our Camp directors, camp leaders, specialists, department heads, and cooks are amazing. Many of our staff grew up as profoundly gifted children, have raised, or are raising profoundly gifted children. Our staff also has extensive experience working with children, including those with special needs.


Food – All meals beginning with lunch on Monday, through breakfast on Saturday, will be provided.
Allergies and dietary restrictions will be accommodated.

A Place for Profoundly Gifted ChildrenProfoundly gifted children will find a safe place to be themselves, while learning and having fun. Ore Academy is designed from the ground up with the needs of the profoundly gifted in the forefront.


Mentors – An individual mentor will be hand picked for each profoundly gifted child. The mentors will be successful professionals from your child's area of interests. There will be two Mentor Days while at camp.

A Place for SiblingsSiblings will have special activities designed specifically for them. They will have the opportunity to feel they too are valued and important. They will have opportunities to participate in all camp activities for children, with the exception of having individual mentors.



Camp Activities


Exposure Experiences – All children, including siblings, will spend time each day in art, music, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). Small group instruction will be given. Department Heads will be available throughout the day for those wishing to return. Supplies for each activity will be provided.


Team building activities – guided by our camp directors who bring with them a combined 26 yrs of summer camp experience.


Survival instruction and compass course – taught by a former Survival Instructor of the US Air Force.


Canoeing – canoes, life vests provided, lifeguard present.


Nature walks – There are various trails available from more rugged to a smooth handicap accessible trail.


Discovery Booths – Booths will be available for children during independent time with construction sets, dress up, puppets and more.


Animals – Certified Therapy Canines will be joining us at camp. We are also anticipating the arrival of ducklings, hatching just before camp.


River Play – A family day trip to the scenic James River with water activities will take place. This location on the river flows over a large slab of rock, providing a large area appropriate for young children to wade in the river. Life vests provided, lifeguard on duty.


Camp fire programs – Each night will have a different theme for the program. There are multiple fire pits available.

A Place for Parents – Parents will participate in sessions, workshops, and activities designed for parents of profoundly gifted children. This is a time for parents to learn, be refreshed, gain skills, find support, and have fun.


Life coaches – Success sessions will be taught.


Massage instruction – Personalized massage techniques for your child, taught by a licensed massage therapist.


Reiki – Reiki sessions are available per request


Nutrition courses – Learn how nutrition affects overall health and behavior.


Workshops by a Chiropractor – Personalized therapies you can do at home.
Cooking class – How to prepare a nutritious breakfast.


Relationship workshops – Improving the relationships in our lives.


Discussion groups – Issues parents, children, and families of profoundly gifted children face.


Music – Using music in your home.


Date night – Parents will be given the opportunity to go on a date while their children are cared for.
